Food in Italy 🥰

This is just a recap for those who enjoy food.

MILAN

Il Priscio – a small café on a side street near the Duomo. I had the bruschetta Fresca, water and a glass of wine. Perfect on a scorching hot day. The bruschetta had sauteed turnip tops, stracciatella, and sun dried cherry tomatoes.

Le Striatelle di Nonna Mafalda – in Navigli, the canal area of Milan. Great area for aperativos by the canals. So good there is no evidence, except an empty plate. 😋

Forgot the name of this place. On the square in front of Sforzesco castle. Another amazing bruschetta lunch with water and wine. This bruschetta also had stracciatella, and arugula, fresh cherry tomatoes, and anchovies.

Un posto di Milano – this is also where I stayed. There is a café where I had breakfast daily, and a fancy, farm-to-table restaurant. I started with Calabrian anchovies with house-made, toasted sourdough bread. The main course was a tagliatelle in rich, thick, tomato sauce with tuna. Unusual combo but outstanding!

BOLOGNA

La Prosciutteria – How could I *NOT eat at a place like this!?! It was a perfect break after the emotions of the Ducati museum. The kids insisted on sustenance, so a focaccia with prosciutto, cheese, and roasted mushrooms, and an Aperol spritz. The kids even let me have some!

Mozzaballa in Mercato delle Erbe – this was a surprise, as it was a “free” tasting that came with my walking tour. A margherita pizza that turned out to be very tasty. Not too much sauce or cheese, crispy bottom crust, but fluffy & chewy edge crust. And there are a bunch of restaurants in the market that look delicious.

Osteria la Fortunata – random and excellent choice. A little pricey but worth it!

Osteria la Fortunata first course – Suppli’ is a fried rice ball stuffed with ragú (a meat and tomato sauce).

Osteria la Fortunata second course – Strozzapreti Fiori di Zucca. Anything with squash blossoms is a winner for me. This was no different. The pasta is hand.rolled in the front window of the restaurant and served with a light tomato sauce containing squash blossoms and fried pork jowls. OMG!

Marsalino – FABULOUS! Sorry you don’t get to see it 😅 It was THAT good. Started with smoked gorgonzola and homemade toasted bread, followed by the standard in Bologna, tagliatelle with ragú, all washed down with a lovely Sangiovese. What a great “last supper” in Bologna.

Breakfast apricot crepe at a café on the way to Palazzo Poggi.

FLORENCE/MUGELLO

Cavalieri Bistrot – handmade, potato-filled ravioli with a rabbit ragú, and Franziskaner weisse on tap.

Platinum hospitality at Mugello circuit – lunch Saturday and Sunday. Served with your choice of bubbles, white or red wine. ❤️
