Meaningful, magnificent, and completely mental Mugello

Meaningful, magnificent, and completely mental Mugello
The kids were so excited to BE AT the famous Mugello red helmet entrance! ❤️🏍️

MotoGP at either of the Italian tracks (the other being Misano) was always on the wishlist. The Italians are PASSIONATE about their racing, however the races are EXPENSIVE. This race was planned as OUR race. OUR once-in-a-lifetime. OUR bucket list item. As wonderful as the experience was, it was diminished without the Basha.

Friday practice and qualifying – this was new. We’d rarely had Friday tickets for past MotoGP events. In all honesty, this day at the track might have best been skipped.

I spent most of the day angry – at everything. I blamed it on my Friday ticket. It was a lawn seat in the one area of the track that could not access any other area. I was “stuck” on the Arrabbiata lawn, for 7 hours, with only one vendor for food or water.

In honesty, I was angry that he wasn’t there. I had no one to discuss the events with, no one to snark with. It isn’t the same.

Saturday qualifying and sprint race – I was better for Saturday. I had hospitality suite tickets and access to nearly all the track.

Sunday – Race Day. I had more trouble with Sunday than Saturday. There was such joy, and such grief.

Warm-up lap begins!

It was a great weekend overall. I met some interesting and wonderful people. I realized that, as hard as it is, I can still enjoy the things we did together. Doors are only closing if I choose for that to be so.

Thanks for taking us along to the races! Doors don’t have to be wide open. Sometimes a closed door gives you time to consider what might be on the other side before it swings. Sometimes it’s just good to know you have the ability to slam the damn thing – open or closed.

Thank you, Ln. Nothing prepared me for this. The swings are intense and often surprising. Thank you for your love and wise words. 😘
