As I begin my next sola adventure, I am both excited and apprehensive. I think this is a good thing, yet I hope the apprehension doesn’t follow me forever.
The lead-up to departure was as hectic as always. House construction, visiting with friends, holiday craziness, and trying to pack efficiently. OY!
The flight to CDMX was easy, but delayed due to weather. We had RAIN in BCS, and there were storms in CDMX. I arrived late and had to find my lodging – which was hampered by massive construction in T2.
I stayed at Izzzleep, a sleep pod place, in T2. Yup, I slept in a tube that reminded me of StarTrek and The Fifth Element.

I would definitely use this option again if I have to overnight. The price (about $65USD) is great compared to the other options in the airport ($230-$400 USD). It was quiet, I could adjust the temperature to my liking, there was free WiFi, and a TV on the ceiling!
It was quite full when I checked in at 11pm and empty when I left at 7:30am. I had a good breakfast at la Casa de Toño (if you haven’t tried it, you are missing out!) and picked up my car for a 12 day roadtrip.
The drive from CDMX to Morelia was EPIC. Traffic getting out of CDMX was intense and unpredictable. After an hour and a half I was ALMOST out of the crazy when I came up on a backup from a crash. I sat for a while but ALL the cars that could turn around did. Including me. We drove.the WRONG WAY on the breakdown lane to the previous on ramp. We went UP the on ramp and U-turned to join the other highway. Other drivers were very accommodating. WOW!!
Driving was easy from then until I started pulling into Morelia. It was 2:30 on a Friday and traffic was messy. I found Casa Eugenia without problem, right in the historic Centro. Great location, terrible parking options. I parked “sort of illegally” about a block from the hotel to go and check in.
OMG, I’m in love with this hotel. It is beautiful, quiet, central, easy walking to loads of the main sights.
Morelia had so much to do. There were many places of interest. Here are some highlights.

Good for you, Kaddee! Sounds like another fun adventure for you. Where are you headed? I was planning to call your Mom this week to see if you’d be with her for Christmas. Now I know you will not! Safe travels.
