Barcelona: Architecture
Going beyond just Gaudi’s well known structures in Barcelona, I had lots of fun taking photos of all kinds of little (and big) architectural details and styles. Purely Gaudi There is SO much Gaudi influence in Barcelona that it can be overwhelming! This trip, we did not go to Parc Guell, although it is AMAZING, we have been the last two times in Barcelona. If it were our first trip, we would not have skipped it. A caveat about many…
Barcelona: Out and About
Rather than try to compile a diary of “what we did every day”, which would not be all that interesting to most folks, I’m going to lump types of photos/experiences with a little info. I hope it will be a fun reminder of why the Basha and I love Barcelona so much. Places We have spent a LOT of time (mostly wandering or lost) in the neighborhood of el Born. It tends to be a maze of small streets and…
Things I see…
I think most of us snap pics on our phones, thinking that we will share them. I know I do, and yet I rarely get around to sharing. I’ve been going thru my phone pics and here are some fun ones: HOUSE – there have been lots of changes, and some stable periods. We are finally settling in and feeling like it is HOME. CAUGHT MY EYE – sometimes you say, I’ve gotta take a picture of that otherwise no-one…
Tourist Adventures in Guadalajara – pt. 2: Architecture & More Art
The Orozco murals were AMAZING, however those were not all we had to feast our eyes on. More art: MUSA at the University of Guadalajara. A small but lovely museum. We really liked the art of Hector Navarro – and he was there talking with military cadets – we got to meet him!!! Architecture and beautiful things around Guadalajara Day trip to Tlaquepaque (say it out loud – it is FUN to say) We had an AMAZING time in Guadalajara.…
Tourist Adventures in Guadalajara – pt. 1: Jose Clemente Orozco
I’ve been gone. Things have been happening. One was a trip to Guadalajara. This is Basha’s & my first adventure in Mexico outside of our new “home town”. Flights are inexpensive and easy. Our time in GDL was split between playing TOURIST with friends and shopping for FURNITURE at the International Furniture Expo. You can guess which was more fun! We stayed at a lovely little hotel in the historical centro called Hotel Mendoza. Our room looked out over a…
Say it out loud
We saw the following FB ad. We were very confused. Until we read it out loud, using SPANISH pronunciation. The J sounds like an H. The I is a long E sound. LOL
Hurricane Olaf – a big blow-hard
Olaf is the second hurricane to reach “worrisome” status for us. The first was Nora – who veered towards the mainland at the last moment, and left Baja with some rain and not much else. Olaf was considered a non-event, until the last moment when it intensified to a category 2 hurricane and made landfall near Todos Santos – north of Cabo San Lucas, on the Pacific side. In preparation for Nora, we battened down the proverbial hatches. We got…
The things I saw: this week!
There are always fun things to see. Especially if you are paying attention. These photos may not seem worthy of a post – but look closely… Motorcycles – For everyone who has owned a bike (dirt bike, street bike, even a mountain bike) you know that modifications are the norm. Most of us want to be able to CARRY stuff on our bike. On my old KLR, I had a grey plastic Husky tool box bolted to the back! We…
Check out some new photos!!
If you haven’t checked out the photo galleries since they first posted, you’ve been missing out! I have been adding to the current albums: Street Art (Extra)Ordinary And I’m working on some new ideas for galleries – suggestions always welcome!
We call her Dolores
In Spanish, dolores means “pains”. When we moved into our current rental home, there was an active house finch nest in the sconce on one of our balconies. Every time we opened the door, the chicks would freak out, the parents would avoid coming to the nest. It was a pain! We didn’t want to have the chicks die, but we wanted to use our balcony. We waited until the chicks fledged and we took the nest out of the…
