It is not what you think!
It gets VERY hot and sweaty here in the summertime. The “snowbirds” go back north, and in the height of the heat, even Mexican nationals do not come in large numbers. So to draw a crowd, and to keep the “summer survivors” happy the municipality hosts monthly FREE open air concerts at the Kiosco on the Malecon. These evenings are called “Noches Pegajosas” or “Sticky Nights”.
We have had some amazing Mexican and American performers. Unfortunately we missed Robert Randolph in September, but July show with Aterciopelados was EXCELLENT, and the October show was OUTSTANDING!! We had the pleasure of a local Jazz/Blues band with the Conde sisters doing vocals, and the headliner was one of my favorites – Michael Franti & Spearhead!
What a phenomenal evening! We met friends for drinks at Casamarte – a restaurant just across the street from the Kiosco. We listened to Jazz Tazz Blues Band. Then we went over to the plaza and danced for about 2 hours! I had expected the show to be a lot shorter – I was pleasantly wrong. (Crappy phone video to prove it happened! 😊)
I love his music, and was smiling and dancing all weekend! Thank you, Michael Franti & Spearhead.
Now what is this about a birthday? Not mine. Not the Basha’s. Nope.
It is the birthday of the state of Baja California Sur. The free and sovereign state of BCS was created on October 8, 1974. I can’t believe I’m older than the state I live in. 😂
Feliz cumpleaños BCS. 🎈🎇🎈
That’s my birthday, too except for the fact that I was 20 something when Baja was born. Who knew!
and by dancing, you mean “you.” The only time I’ve seen him dance is with you, at your wedding. 😉
