In all the hubbub about the house, we’ve realized that (1) it is a BIG house, and (2) it is only PARTIALLY furnished! Since nearly all of our worldly belongings were sold last year when we realized that we were Accidental Mexpats – that means that we have very little to bring into the house – and, LOL, for now it is all still “up North”.
How do we solve this problem? We’ve looked around at furniture and appliance stores here, and found that most was (1) hideous, (2) overpriced, or (3) both! We don’t want fussy furniture – we want comfort. Since Los Cabos is not too far, we gave ourselves a brief “getaway” to visit the myriad furniture stores in that region. It was not very relaxing, however some GREAT things happened.
Having visited Cabo San Lucas multiple times, and never enjoyed it, we chose it’s slightly sleepier neighbor, San Jose del Cabo (SJC) as our base. We had a lovely small apartment in the Arts District, and our last night was ArtWalk – fabulous!
Through all of our looking mostly we found… nothing. Although we did have some AMAZING food. And best of all, mid-way through our stay, we got a message from our lawyer –
WE HAVE A CLOSING DATE FOR OUR HOUSE!!!
It is REAL now. It is happening. And I can count the sleeps until I can be in my own house!!! (Even if it is “camping” in the house) The Basha watches bemused as I make lists of what we need to take to the house for our “first night”. We (ok, really it is just me) have lists of who we need to contact (builder – for renovations, agent – for final walkthrough, finance guy – for the $$) to have this all happen. We went from “hurry up and wait” to “just hurry”.
I couldn’t be more pleased! 👍😊🤩🥰
