I was today old when I found out that the offer that the Basha and I put in on “La Casa de Nuestros Sueños” (the house of our dreams) was accepted – no counter, just as written!!!

I can’t believe it!!!
We’ve had some rough starts and dead ends. This is a house I can see us being in for a LOOONNNGGGGGGG time.
It has room for visitors, a pool for hot days, in the flat, walkable part of the centro, and a view of the Sea of Cortez. Never in my life did I believe that I’d live in a house like this one. This is truly a dream come true.
Since getting “stranded” in Mexico by the COVID pandemic, we have adjusted to being Mexpats. We have shifted our expectations such that going back to the United States is no longer in the short-term plan. We went back recently to sort, catalog, and ready what little we have left for when we eventually find/buy a house in Mexico.
Upon returning to our southern city, we started with an agent, and began the active process of finding a house. It is not as easy as it sounds! There are few houses on the market here right now – it is the low season, and with COVID there aren’t as many people visiting down here. We looked at houses in town, condos in town, houses out in the desert-burbs. It seemed overwhelming. We knew what we wanted, but couldn’t seem to find it in a price-range and neighborhood that we were comfortable with.
We found it. We went to view it. We walked away – it needed some work, it wasn’t furnished (commonly houses here are sold fully or partially furnished – makes moving in easier, especially for people like us who sold just about everything up north), etc.
We looked at other properties and eventually decided to go back and look at “Casa Madero” again. (Casa Madero is our name for the house – for now). Yes, it will need some work, especially to showcase some of the great features of the house. We’ve decided that we are ok with that, and it means we can get exactly what we want. The bones of the house are good, now we get to make it ours.
Without further ado… here are the listing pictures for “Casa Madero”
Front Door – it is on a shaded, but active street in Centro Entry – there is a formal entryway, the window you see leads to the TV room TV room – the window opens to the street, and an archway connects it to the living room Living room – windows to the pool area, stairs to the second floor, the door leads to the garage, there is a bathroom on the other side of the stairs Dining room – as seen from the LR, on the left is an office or bedroom, on the right is the kitchen Office/BR – on the ground floor, window to the street Kitchen – dated, but workable.
