Why would you want to do THAT?

Why would you want to do THAT?

This is the question that I’ve gotten, repeatedly, regarding MANY things of late.

WHY WOULD YOU…

  • Quit your job
  • Start a blog
  • Solo roadtrip to San Diego
  • Drive with your husband to Baja for a 3 month stay
  • Get residency in Mexico
  • and so on and so on and so on

These are ALL good questions, however they are also all focused on “the safe path”. That is where my desires and actions have diverged from many I know. I have no idea what will happen next – on a daily basis. This blog is my way of remembering, sharing, processing, and reality checking (as in “No shit – did that REALLY happen?”)

I’ve been thinking about this for nearly the entire year that my husband (from now on, “the Basha”) and I (when necessary, “Doctora”) have spent in Baja, Mexico. It was NOT the plan to be here for a year, but then again

The “plan” was to roadtrip to southern Baja, stay 3 months, finalize our initial temporary residence visas, and roadtrip back to the PNW. The adventure began on January 2nd, 2020. You do the math… About the time we were due to leave (reluctantly, having LOVED our stay) COVID-19 was raging in the US and hitting Mexico. Seemed best to hang tight and ride it out.

We are STILL here.

We have no clear idea when we will get back to the US, and when we do it will be to finalize our move to Mexico. All the fanfare of planning, sorting, packing, and leaving has been dispensed with via e-mail, Skype, and some damn good friends.
