Rather than try to compile a diary of “what we did every day”, which would not be all that interesting to most folks, I’m going to lump types of photos/experiences with a little info. I hope it will be a fun reminder of why the Basha and I love Barcelona so much.
Places
We have spent a LOT of time (mostly wandering or lost) in the neighborhood of el Born. It tends to be a maze of small streets and alleys, with amazing food, art (think, Picasso museum!), fun shops – not all crappy tourist stuff, and a great vibe.
Our “neighborhood” is called Gracia, and is a more open urban setting with wide parks down the middle of the main boulevards, loads of cafes, bakeries, and AMAZING restaurants. A quieter area than el Born, but still only a few Metro stops away.
People
A note about the parakeets: we have them in Mexico too, although they originate from the temperate to subtropical areas of Argentina and the surrounding countries in South America (Wikipedia). There are “feral” populations around the world that were started by escaped/freed pet birds. They are EXTREMELY fecund, and adapt well to urban settings.
We have enjoyed watching the various birds in the trees outside our apartment. We also get great people watching from our balcony, as well as our wanders around the city.
It is an *almost* perfect vacation. 🧡
